Fight for Marriage: Millions Pour into California

July 7, 2008 by Bryan

Backers and foes of a November ballot initiative to ban same-sex marriage are raising millions of dollars across the nation. By election day, consultants predict each side may bring in $15 million. The LA Times has a great interactive map showing how much money has been raised by each side–and where it came from. They also show the counties to see amounts raised so far by county and the vote the last time a gay marriage ban was on the ballot, Proposition 22 in 2000.

The bad news? Anti-gays have raised $2,322,000, whereas the pro-equality side has raised $1,350,000.

Head on over to Equality California and make a donation to defend the marriage rights of all, not just some. No matter if it’s $10 or $1000, it all helps.
