Laguna Beach City Council Unanimously Rejects CA Marriage Amendment

July 23, 2008 by Bryan

Laguna BeachThis news makes me so proud as all my family lives down in Laguna Beach, my Uncle Kelly is on the Laguna Beach City Council and last but not least is home to the annual Boyd-B-Q. Yeah - laugh it up. Laguna Beach, long a gay-friendly community, followed Los Angeles’ lead as one of the first cities to reject a ballot measure that would ban same-sex marriage.

The majority Republican City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to oppose Proposition 8, intended to define marriage in California as between a man and a woman.

“Laguna has a live-and-let-live attitude,” said Councilwoman Toni Iseman, who recommended the action with Mayor Jane Egly. “We don’t tolerate diversity, we embrace diversity.”
