Prop 8 Nationwide Protests Saturday, Nov. 15th
November 12, 2008 by Bryan
Every state has at least one, if not more events to protest the injustice of Proposition 8 in California, you know that little proposition that stripped away the fundamental rights given to all couples who seek the right to marry.
As you’ve probably noticed there have been massive protest in across California, in New York and in Utah already. This Saturday the 15th will mark the national day of protest for marriage equality.
Here’s the scoop. Find the closest location to you and SHOW UP.
Here’s a link to the list of all locations across the country.

If you don’t live in California, you probably don’t know about all the propositions on the Nov. 4 ballot. At the same time Californians voted to take away the rights of gays by voting “NO” for gay marriage (Proposition 8), they also voted to extend the rights of chickens, pregnant pigs and beef raised for veal, (Proposition 2) in a landslide vote, by 2-to-1. That’s “YES” to animals and “NO” to human beings.
Many gays voted in favor of animal rights. It’s a sad irony. It’s similiar to the story a few years ago about a woman jogging in southern California who was killed by a mountain lion. Remember? Well, the fund for the slain cougar’s orphaned pups received more donations than the fund for the woman’s orphaned children.
A good article on the controversial propositions can be read on Ethic Soup blog at:

The g/l anger regarding Prop 8 is certainly understandable and reasonable. What is not reasonable is their focus on the Mormon Church. The frustration should be focused on the State. This is a constitutional issue not a voting issue. The Church has the same rights as everyone else in this country. Note – I am not Mormon. I simply ask that individual rights be respected. I don’t concur with their beliefs but they are entitled to their beliefs just as the g/l communities are entitled to theirs. Please read my blog concerning this issue:

Proposition 8 stripped away the fundamental rights given to all couples who seek the right to marry. There shouldn’t be a restriction on committment and love. They all breath the same air, they all feel pain and joy, and they all live by the same laws, so why shouldn’t they have the same rights.
