I was floored. Probably one of my favorite movies of all time. Humanistic, intelligent, relevant, and powerful.
Harvey Milk was so… I mean, if anything, his greatest crime was that he couldn’t save everybody. I never really thought of Jim White as a human being before, if that makes sense. Now I almost feel bad for him.
I could sit here and write an essay about this movie, but I’ll just leave it at this: It did more for me than any film I’ve seen in years, and I watch a LOT of movies.
This is the only time I can think of where the audience clapped at the end of a projected film- in the middle of the week, at a public screening, weeks into the movie’s release.
It was truly an amazing film. I left feeling so angry and ready to make some noise about injustice against queer folks. I cry just thinking about parts of the movie.
