Lumigan Glaucoma Eye Drops

March 2, 2009 by Bryan

Lumigan Glaucoma Eye Drops, Simply a sign of the times or is Just Out's owner on a crash course with failure.

After just celebrating their 25th anniversary, multiple sources indicate that Portland's only GLBT print publication, Just Out, is in dire financial trouble. Some speculate they won't even survive six more months, Lumigan Glaucoma Eye Drops india.

From numerous anti-gay ballot measures to victorious wins for equality, Just Out has seen it all over the past 25 years--and has been there to report it.

Sadly, our sources are reporting that many employees are behind in payroll by roughly three weeks with no light visible at the end of the tunnel. Sources also state there may be even bigger problems looming on the horizon for Just Out's owner/editor Marty Davis, Lumigan Glaucoma Eye Drops. 200mg Lumigan Glaucoma Eye Drops, Numerous, yet unconfirmed reports from insiders suggest that payroll taxes are not being paid--and in fact are behind. Though again, that cannot be confirmed.

After the Sam Adams scandal, and the negative reaction from a large portion of Portand's gay community to Just Out's imprudent call for his resignation, Lumigan Glaucoma Eye Drops overseas, Just Out's editor decided to increase the size of the next issue to make it seem 'beefier' and give the illusion that the paper is "as strong as ever".

One has to wonder and truly question why such a poor decision would be made in the midst of rumors that employees not even getting paychecks. Lumigan Glaucoma Eye Drops, It leaves little doubt in my mind that Just Out is being run with a complete absence of reality. It's irresponsible and in my humble opinion, quite reckless. Lumigan Glaucoma Eye Drops uk, Just Out's effort to get an editorial out the door leads to many other questions and speculation from those who know editor and owner Marty Davis. It's been said that Davis has quite the aversion to the concept of men having sex, sources have called her "sexist", "judgmental" and "out of touch with the community". One source called the rash editorial decision "a combo of prudery and wanting to move papers."

Just Out has been an important staple in the community and I'd personally be very sad to lose it. Hopefully they can pull through for the sake of their employees, 150mg Lumigan Glaucoma Eye Drops, especially considering the economic climate we're currently facing.

Oh boy. What a loss for Portland that would be. I mean, one of the most gay-friendly cities in the US without a gay newspaper? Um, that doesn’t seem quite right. I’d hate to see it fold….and I hate to see anyone in business fail for any reason. If it happens, however, I hope someone has some backup plans ready to roll.

Just Out’s imprudent call for his resignation…

You mean Just Out’s PRINCIPLED call for his resignation?

  3. Editor on March 2nd, 2009 9:56 pm

Pretty sure I said imprudent JJ.

Hope they can pull through for the sake of the employees.

    Boyd,

You are dogshit on the shoe of this community.

Its pretty apparent to the gay community in Portland that Just Out is on the ropes. Their take on the Sam Adams thing really PO’d a lot of people. I’m talking a flying rage kinda thing. They lost some advertisers over it and when you add that to the advertising they probably lost due to the economy you can see the writing on the wall. In addition, Marty Davis has made some really, really poor editorial decisions over the years and there is only so long readers will put up with it.

I personally, have considered Just Out to be an irrelevant part of Portland’s gay community for years now. I just don’t respect it as a voice for anyone. They certainly don’t speak for me. I don’t want people to loose their jobs, but at the same time, I think its time for Just Out to get out.

Bryan Boyd is doing a service to the LGBT community by finally writing about what we’ve all known for some time – that Marty Davis is an irresponsible business person, that she treats her employees like crap, that she doesn’t have a clue about running a paper and should either give it up to let someone else take over, or just call it quits altogether.

Her holider-than-thou attitude is completely stupid, and also completely outrageous, considering her condemnation of Sam Adams and other truly poor decisions.

Rumor: a story or statement in general circulation without confirmation or certainty as to facts.

Is spreading rumors about people in our community truly the focus of Gay Rights Watch? This editorial seems more malicious than actually reporting on the rights of GLBT people. :(

I, for one, am committed to never opening another issue of Just Out or visiting their website. That paper doesn’t speak for me or to me at this point. They were already teetering on the edge of relevance for me, but their hasty, ill-considered reaction to the Mayor Adams story pushed it too far.

Irate Reader – you sound an awful lot like Marty Davis herself…

I think Portland has evolved to such a degree of acceptance that there is no longer a strong enough need for a newspaper that catars to this specific minority. It had lost touch with the gay community years ago and hasn’t been able to get back in touch. I think the older generation felt it connected them to a community that they needed. The younger generation doesn’t have this same feeling. They now live in a city with a gay mayor. It’s always a little sad when something like this has come to it’s end, but I don’t see it as taking a step back,. I see it as sign of a community evolving.

These are NOT RUMORS…this article is actually being nice to Marty Davis. The paper is her voice, her out of touch voice and I know she hasn’t run a payroll for her employees in quite some time. Bryan Boyd is friends with most of the Just Out staff he had inside information people, didn’t he use to write for them? I know he used to advertise Urban Humanity on their Web site. There is no reason to defend it. It would be great if Marty would turn the paper over to someone else. Maybe a gay man and a happy lesbian should run it together? I think its hopeless though, I feel bad for the people that work there that have to help represent Ms. Davis’ opinions. I would like to think their jobs could be saved by Davis stepping down, but her reaction to Sam was the nail in the coffin. I think we need an entire new paper for our cloudy city.

No it really is being nice to Marty Davis. In truth she is a crazy lady that has no business running a newspaper. Has anyone ever questioned if money from gay skate actually makes it to Our House of Portland? I think it goes to her video poker fund.

  14. Oh snap on March 5th, 2009 12:11 am

Someone mention the last time just out broke a major news story. Ok how about the last time anyone seriously discussed anything that paper published. No? Perhaps think of… Oh forghet it. Just out is just dead, and it doesnt merit the attention. Read the mercury or willy week to get quality reporting on lgbt issues. Over and out!

  15. Jesse on March 5th, 2009 9:40 pm

Get Real..I like your thinking. Maybe someone from a real newspaper or say news channel should look into all these charity contributions Just Out takes and contact the organizations that are suppose to benefit from them. It does seem odd that Ms. Davis isn’t paying her employees yet I swear I saw her playing video poker at Hobo’s last weekend, looks like someone needs to pay closer attention to all those gambling addiction ads.

  16. What a mess on March 6th, 2009 7:01 pm

Marty Davis called for the resignation of Sam Adams, right? for lying and manipulating others in the lgbt community.

Well Ms. Davis has lied to and manipaulated this community for far too long. It is now time for her to step aside.

Did anyone see this week’s issue? A big barrel of crap!!!

Thank you Bryan for being open about what is happening in Portland. The culture here is to keep things brushed under the carpet however most of my friends have not been happy with the reporting in Just Out the whole 5 years I have lived in Portland.
As for leaving Portland without a gay publication, all I can say right now is that will not be the case. We will have a publication if not several that come out of this. Whether it will be paperless or in print only time will tell.
What I ask of my fellow Portland GLBT community, please get involved in helping to develop the kind of publication and reporting you want to see. This is a great opportunity to develop the format and content we want to see reported about our own community. If you would like to get involved then email tedellquist@msn.com
