Leo -

When you knowingly vote to strip the rights of thousands upon thousands of California families, I'd say that's pretty hateful.

What would you do if the majority of those in your state voted to strip you of your right to marry your wife? Therefore stripping away the very rights to things like hospital visitation, automatic inheritance rights -- just to name two of the hundreds and hundreds of rights, benefits and responsibilities afford via marriage at the state level.

Would you sit back silently and do nothing? Just tell yourself that the "majority" don't want you to have those basic human rights?

sorry to hear all the mud slinging. My partner and I are a small business owners in San Diego for over ten years. We are saddened by our rights being striped away. We work so hard to have a good life and simple home. I worry that if anything should happen to me or him that we would lose everything we worked for. A "Civil Union" does not protect us and our assets if the state/opposing family member wants to step in. We only want to be "Equal Americans". Please have compassion for our rights.

May we come together with Love in our Hearts.

The people of California voted and the majority approved the ban. If California was to overturn the people's vote, what type of message would that send about our system of democracy? What type of message is the gay special interest sending when they call everyone with a differing opinion hateful and etc?

Nice of him to speak out against Prop. 8, but why in the world did he veto the legislation when it came up from the legislature? If he agrees that same-sex couples shouldn't be denied the right to marry, why would he veto it? He can't say it was because the people didn't want it to be, because now the people have said they don't want it to be, yet all of a sudden he supports us? I don't get it...

Proposition 8 stripped away the fundamental rights given to all couples who seek the right to marry. There shouldn't be a restriction on committment and love. They all breath the same air, they all feel pain and joy, and they all live by the same laws, so why shouldn't they have the same rights.
