Videos covering a ton of the nationwide rallies are available all in one place. Never in my life have a seen such a galvanized movement. It’s estimated that 3.5 million people across the country gathered in their city to let their voices be heard on the blatant discrimination brought to you by the extremist religious right. Let’s hope this passion continues and we can channel it into passing legislation and beginning the process of overturning marriage bans.

Thousands Protest California’s Prop 8 in New York City (Video + Photos)

The fight against Proposition 8 spread out of the west and into New York City Wednesday night.

An estimated 4,000 protestors surrounded the LDS Manhattan temple, demonstrating the church’s massive involvement in passing Proposition 8.

The protestors filled up Columbus Circle Wednesday evening.

This Saturday is also designated as a national day of protest over Proposition 8 (location list here). Organizers are planning protests in all 50 states including Utah.

Prop 8 Nationwide Protests Saturday, Nov. 15th

Every state has at least one, if not more events to protest the injustice of Proposition 8 in California, you know that little proposition that stripped away the fundamental rights given to all couples who seek the right to marry.

As you’ve probably noticed there have been massive protest in across California, in New York and in Utah already. This Saturday the 15th will mark the national day of protest for marriage equality.

Drew Barrymore Joins CA Protests Against Prop 8 (Video)

Starting at Sunset Junction in Silver Lake at 6pm and arriving eight and a half hours later in West Hollywood at around 2:30am, the Los Angeles Prop 8. protest ended with a sit-in the middle of the street. Throughout the night, groups would join the protest as it made its way through Hollywood and environs. While passing through the Sunset Strip, the rally picked up everyone’s favorite angel, Drew Barrymore–and paparazzi– who marched with the approximately 3000 swing shift protesters. As the exhausted but defiant crowd occupied the intersection of San Vicente and Santa Monica, Drew took to the microphone, tearfully telling the assembled crowd, “I will fight with you!”

Earlier in the night, the protest swelled to 15,000 people. It’s the fourth continuous day of protests since Prop 8. was passed, outlawing gay marriage in California. Further protests are planned for tomorrow and the foreseeable future. (via Queerty)

Throwing Eggs at People: Free Speech?

Personally I think this is outrageous. In Budapest, about a dozen or so anti-gay folks threw eggs, bottles and rocks at gay pride attendees. They’ve been slapped with a minor fine, but not for throwing objects at people, for refusing to disperse.

Four of more than a dozen people arrested for throwing eggs at a gay pride march in Budapest on Saturday received minor fines on Wednesday, while charges against three others were dismissed and charges against the others were dropped.

Those fined were convicted only because they refused to obey a police order to disperse.

In delivering the verdicts in the case the court ruled that simply throwing eggs at a group you disagree with is simply an exercise in free speech Hungarian media reported Wednesday.

The court noted that police on the scene of the parade at first did not want to file charges against the protestors but were ordered to do so by senior officers.

Dozens of protesters from a right wing Hungarian nationalist group clashed with marchers and police on Saturday.

Marchers were pelted with eggs, bottles and rocks and set fire to a police van.

Police used water cannon and tear gas to disperse the protesters at several points along a boulevard in downtown Budapest.
